Coffee Harvest Calendar

Track when coffee is harvested around the world and discover the journey from cherry to cup.

Why harvest timing matters: Coffee cherries must be picked at peak ripeness for best quality. After harvest, coffee goes through processing (2-4 weeks), drying, milling, and shipping. Fresh crop typically arrives in consuming countries 3-6 months after harvest.

Most coffee-growing regions have one main harvest season per year, though some equatorial countries like Colombia and Kenya have two harvest seasons. Select a month below to see which regions are harvesting.

Understanding Coffee Freshness

Fresh Crop

Coffee available 3-6 months after harvest. Offers the brightest, most vibrant flavors with pronounced acidity and aromatic complexity.

Current Crop

Coffee 6-12 months post-harvest. Still excellent quality, with balanced flavors and good complexity. This is when most specialty coffee is consumed.

Past Crop

Coffee over 12 months old. Flavors become muted, acidity fades, and the coffee can develop woody or papery notes. Best avoided for specialty coffee.

Pro Tip: The best time to buy coffee from a specific origin is typically 3-9 months after their harvest season. This ensures optimal freshness while allowing sufficient time for processing, shipping, and proper rest after roasting.
